Naxos
The largest and most fertile island in the Cyclades, and one of the most beautiful and attractive in Greece, is Naxos Island. It combines the gold sands with the beauty of the mountains. Naxos Island has a long history, including the Hellenistic era, the Archaic era, the conquest of Venice, and the Byzantine period. Ancient temples, Frank castles, Venetian castles, palaces, archaeological museums, museums of folklore bearing the mark of glories of the past.
Saint George (Agios Georgios)
Naxos Town Beach is Saint George's (Agios Georgios). The first choice for swimming and spending a day there is sandy and very long (1 km). It provides all sorts of entertainment, including beach restaurants, beach bars, water sports facilities, and clubs.
Naxos Town or Hora
The port and capital of the islands is Naxos City, or Hora. It is a vibrant town, with a maze of narrow streets and tiny passages, of Cycladic architecture, and an excellent resort. An vast, almost medieval Old Quarter stretches up the hillside behind the waterfront where Kastro (Castle) is. While the views are outstanding, walking around and in the Castle is a must.
