To experience the African bushveld as it was known
to the pioneers who first explored it, read Hemmingway. Or visit Mantobeni.
The Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp has stripped away all the barriers
between the visitor and the environment. While retaining enough of the creature
comforts to satisfy the luxury-loving animal in you.
The tented camp is set among Tamboti trees on the banks of a riverbed. >From
the sundeck of the sparkling swimming pool, you can watch elephant
visiting the nearby waterhole to enjoy their own cooling off time.
The reception area has a large lounge, indoor and outdoor dining
facilities and a complimentary bar with a climate-controlled wine cellar,
stocked with a wide range of fine South African vintages to browse through and
enjoy.
To feel really at one with the majestic wildlife and boundless bushveld of
Africa, nothing should separate you from its wonders. At Honeyguide Khoka
Moya Camp you will be in close and personal touch with your environment
without sacrificing the comforts and security you expect of a luxury safari.
The camp has been designed to reflect the simplicity and openness of African
living. Using the universal building material of corrugated iron, reminiscent of
the houses of the early gold prospectors, and aged planks recycled from a
previous wooden structure, Khoka Moya camp has been created to a traditional
African plan.
The communal lounge, dining and bar areas encircle an open atrium where al
fresco evening meals are served around a massive log fire. The
climate-controlled wine cellar offers many fine South African vintages to meet
your personal tastes.
Manicured green lawns flow through to the pool and outside bar.
Children’s Safari
The Honeyguide Khoka Moya, cater for children under the age of twelve years.
The children’s program includes a children’s activity center, supervised by
the camp staff where children can engage in a variety of activities such as
beadwork making, cookie making, drawing and reading. The center is stocked with
a DVD player and a variety of animal and nature related movies, toys as well as
a small library aimed at a younger readership. The center also has bathing and
nappy changing facilities.
The swimming pool has a children’s area and the staff can supply inflatable
arm bands if required.
There is an optional menu as an alternative for children, with food such as
pasta, fish fingers, hamburgers, hotdogs and ice-cream.
Children are welcome to go on drives and walks with their parents. It has been
added a short (1 hour) drive for the children after breakfast where time will be
spent looking at some of the small wonders of the bushveld, as well as the
occasional visit to the crocodile farm at Manyeleti Main Camp.
Although Khoka Moya has always been child friendly, this is the beginning of our
children’s program and hope it will go from strength to strength as a result
of the expert instruction hope to receive from the younger guests and
their parents.
Please Note: The children’s program is at Khoka Moya only and not at
Mantobeni which only takes children over the age of 12 years only, such older
children being recognized and charged as adults.
