Milos is the most southerly island in the western Cyclades and has a distinctive horseshoe form with volcanic soil and rich mineral deposits lying beneath.

Milos is the fifth largest island in the Cyclades and offers picturesque towns, the catacombs and a breathtaking sunset from the Castle of Plaka.

The ancient civilization of Milos is considered to be as important as that of Crete spanning 5,000 years with the Phoenicians being its first inhabitants. The island is famous for the statue of Aphrodite known as the Venus de Milo, now housed in the Louvre Museum, Paris.
