Information about Serifos

Serifos is the green island of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. Serifos has very little greenery on the plains and the slopes of mountains like the rest of the Cyclades. The 1,200 inhabitants of the island are mainly farmers and grow citrus fruit, grapes and early garden produce.

Serifos Town, known as Chora, could easily earn the distinction of the most beautiful town in the Cyclades, perched high on a cliff and offering panoramic views of the port and the Aegean Sea. The post Byzantine era churches, ruins of an ancient castle and tiny white chapels make Serifos quite unique. The fortress-like Taxiarches Monastery is the only monument of the island.

There are numerous pebbled and sand beaches and even a nudist beach at Livadakia.

The climate is dry and very healthy with cool summers.
