Information about Al Madinah

Al Madinah is located in the eastern part of the Al Hijaz region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A fertile volcanic hill that is about 600 metres above sea level. The Al Madinah was an area of green oasis before buildings appeared.

Al Madinah lies to the north of Mecca. The Tomb of Mohammed is in the Mosque at Medina, the second most holy Muslim city after Mecca. The Prophet's Mosque dominates the Madinah skyline. The latest expansion of the Mosque was overseen by King Fahd who wrote an inscription on the base of the last of the 23-ft brass crescents topping the six new minarets. The Prophet Muhammad spent the last years of his life in Madinah, he and many of his companions are buried here.
