The island of Tahiti is the largest and most well known of all the
islands of French Polynesia often called The Island of Love. The capitol city of
Papeete is located on the northwest coast and is the governmental centre of
French Polynesia. Tahiti is shaped almost like the number 8 turned nearly upside
down. Tahiti is a rich green, mountainous island (volcanic in origin),
with some rugged peaks exceeding 2,000 meters in height.
The city of Papeete is alot like any other big European city. It almost seems
as though it doesn't belong in the tropic paradise that surrounds it.
Moorea, with a very similar landscape, is commonly reached by ferry from
Tahiti. Moorea is described "It's a monument to the prodical
beauty of nature." Tahiti and Moorea are widely considered by many
travelers to be the ultimate escape destination.
Waterfalls cascading into cool rivers and streams as well as flat coastal
area contraining fields of taro and tropical flowers. The beaches on the island
of Tahiti vary, you will find black sand beaches on the north east cost and
white sand beaches on the south west side of Tahiti. Most of the hotel resorts
in Tahiti can be found on the west coast side of the island of Tahiti.
Tahiti is tropical-paradise located in the French Polynesia. It is the
region's biggest and most famous island. Picture aqua-blue seas and palm-fringed
beaches and you see Tahiti.
